Lots to Report

Things have been busy with the Association lately as we continue to implement our management plan as outlined in the Research and Studies section of this website.  We have been meeting every two weeks with the board and members composed of Robin Hanson (President), Russel Smith (Vice President), David Olive (Turtleman),Wayne and Richard Baker (the Baker Boys), Ruth O’Leary, Jack Carr, Jim DeVenny, Percy Cobham, and Aaron Fraser.  We have been discussing the Gaspereau fishery, trails and maintenance, communication through Facebook and the website, and the possible wind farms planned for the areas around Shin Creek and South Oromocto Lake.  In addition, we are always looking for new members, volunteers and community involvement.  If you are interested in becoming a part of the ORWAI, please get in touch with us and we will add you to our email list.  We will also be looking for volunteers to help with electrofishing starting around July 10 and continuing on until the end of August.  This is a great opportunity to explore new areas of the Oromocto watershed and learn about the aquatic biota of our streams.  We will put out a Facebook post very shortly about this and can provide all the details.  This is a ‘kid friendly’ activity and we have had children as young as 7 years old participate.  Stay tuned for more news coming up soon.
